The Damascus Steel Hexagonal Tang Dao represents the pinnacle of Chinese swordmaking from DRACBLADE, forged in Longquan, Zhejiang a city designated as the origin of China sword culture by UNESCO intangible heritage recognition.

Blade

The Tang Dao features a hexagonal cross-section blade forged from folded Damascus steel with a distinct visible grain. The hexagonal geometry (six-sided) provides superior rigidity compared to traditional flat-grind blades while maintaining the flowing Damascus pattern on each face. Overall length: 39 inches (99 cm).

Historical Significance

The Tang Dao was the primary sidearm of the Tang Dynasty (618-907 CE) military elite. Its design influenced the development of the Japanese katana through cultural exchange along the Silk Road. This reproduction honors that legacy with authentic forging methods.

Fittings

Solid brass guard (tunkou), pommel, and collar fittings with hand-engraved detailing. The handle is wrapped in braided cord over hardwood, providing a secure traditional grip.
